200 g | 1 tsp |
Ingredients
1 cup (198 g) sugar
0.5 cup (156 g) corn syrup
0.25 cup (57 g) water
0.25 tsp salt
1 cup (142 g) peanuts
2 Tbsp (28 g) butter
1 tsp baking soda
Cookware
- 1 heavy 2-quart saucepan
- 1 cookie sheet
- 1 forks
- 1 candy thermometer
Instructions
Step 1
Grease a large cookie sheet. Set aside.
Step 2
In a heavy 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, bring sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanuts.
Step 3
Set candy thermometer in place, and continue cooking. Stir frequently until the temperature reaches 300°F (150°C), or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.
Step 4
Remove from heat; immediately stir in softened butter and baking soda; pour at once onto the 13" x 18" rimmed baking sheet. With two forks, lift and pull peanut mixture into a rectangle, about 14x12 inches; cool.
Step 5
Snap candy into pieces.
