Mom's Buttercream Frosting
- 1 lb confectioner's sugar
- 0.33 cup soft butter
- 0.25 cup milk
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 large bowl
- 1 electric mixer
In a large bowl, with electric mixer at low speed, combine confectioner's sugar, soft butter, milk, salt, and vanilla.
Beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes, until creamy. If desired, add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency.
Add 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, beat an extra minute.
Replace milk with 1/4 cup lemon juice, add 1 tsp lemon zest.
Replace milk with 1/4 cup orange juice. Add 1 tsp orange zest.
Add 3 Tbsp sour cream, beat an extra minute.
