  • ๐ŸŒพ 1 cup dry lentils
  • ๐Ÿ’ง 2.5 cups water
  • ๐Ÿง‚ 1 tsp salt
  • ๐Ÿง… 0.5 medium onion
  • ๐Ÿฅ• 1 carrot
  • ๐Ÿซ’ 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • ๐Ÿง‚ 1 tsp pepper
  • ๐Ÿง‚ some salt
  • ๐Ÿถ 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • ๐ŸŒพ 0.75 cup rolled oats
  • ๐Ÿž 0.75 cup bread crumbs
  • ๐Ÿฅš 2 eggs (optional)

๐Ÿ“ Instructions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF.

Step 2

Boil the dry lentils in the water with the salt for about 45 minutes. The lentils will be soft and most of the water will be gone.

Step 3

Fry the diced onion and diced carrot in the olive oil until soft, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

In a bowl, combine the pepper, salt, soy sauce, rolled oats, and bread crumbs. Add the cooked ingredients to the bowl and toss combine.

Step 5

While still warm, form the mixture into patties. Add eggs (optional) if the mixtures is not sticking together.

Step 6

Burgers can be then shallow fried for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or baked at 400ยฐF for 15 minutes.
