Slow Cooker Red Beans and Rice

Ingredients
2 15-oz cans red beans
1 cup onion, finely chopped
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 cup chopped celery
2 tsp thyme
3 cloves garlic
2.33 cups vegetable broth
1 bay leaf
1 tsp smoke paprika
0.25 tsp cayenne
some salt
some pepper

Instructions
Step 1
Place red beans, onion, finely chopped, chopped green pepper, chopped celery, thyme, garlic, vegetable broth, bay leaf, smoke paprika, and cayenne in a slow cooker.
Step 2
Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.
Step 3
Stir in rice. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4
Increase heat to high and cook 1 to 2 hours more.
Step 5
Note: For brown rice, cook 2 more hours beyond the initial 4 to 5 hours.
